headus has worked with the film, game and TV industries since 1994, not only with our 3D scanning services, but also our animation focused software solutions. headus created the early software solution for translating a dense polygonal mesh gained from 3D scanning, to NURBS surfaces. From there, headus further developed CySlice, a solution to fit simplified SUBD or quadmeshes to dense polygonal meshes, then displacement or normal maps are extracted to capture the original dense mesh detail. CySlice has been used widely by many of the major production houses, including Weta Digital, Double Negative, The Mill, Cinesite, The Moving Picture Company, Hydraulx and Digital Domain. UVLayout, a stand-alone application for the creation and editing of UV coordinates for 3D polymeshes and subdivision surfaces, is also widely used in the same industries.
